Espoo city and Medixine provide data for new Finnish reference values for growth

The city of Espoo has been piloting Medixine Growth Screen for the past two years. Nurses measure and weigh children regularly and store the values to an EHR. Growth Screen reads the data automatically and analyses growth and weight values and trends. In case values are suspect of pathology a warning is sent to the nurse that can trigger an electronic consultation to a specialist doctor, if needed.

All in all the data of over 75.000 children has been processed and stored. This data has now been used to calculate new national reference values for Finland. The previous values were based on data collected between 1959 and 1971. Research based on this data continues in a multicenter study.
