In the end of September 2014 Apple released the Apple Health application that allows the users to store all their health related information safely into the accompanying HealthKit database. However, all the gathered information stays in the phone and the user cannot share it with his doctor or nurse.
Medixine solves this problem utilizing its Medixine Clinic cloud software application that has been developed for communication between patients and healthcare providers. With the new Medixine Connect iPhone application users can authorize their doctors and nurses to view for instance blood pressure values that have been collected to the user’s phone. With the Medixine Clinic cloud application healthcare professionals can further exchange secure messages with the user, use questionnaires to collect data and provide information about the disease and treatment. The system also provides reminders and notifications, for instance on measurement values that are higher than expected.
”We have shown the solution already before the launch in Scandinavia and Europe and the interest has been high. We expect to start several customer projects before the end of the year”, says Dr. Tapio Jokinen, President of Medixine. ”We are among the first to implement the idea of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) where consumers can participate in the gathering of information used in their care with their own devices. From a healthcare provider’s point of view this means lower costs for both devices and support.”
Medixine sees as their customers to the new Medixine Connect solution mainly healthcare providers but also insurance companies and wellness service providers. The new offering includes an instance of the Medixine Clinic based cloud service and the Medixine Connect iPhone software application, both branded for the customer.
Apple Health compatible measurement devices are already available in the market and their number is expected to grow fast during the end of this year.
